YELLOW FARMHOUSE INN

ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

Welcome!  This place is our home, and we want to share it with you…we are Monte and Lori. Owning a bed and breakfast has been a longtime dream for Lori since we were first married and living in Florida over 25 years ago. Monte was from NY and dreamed of working on Wall Street, and so after a couple years we moved to Manhattan to make that dream a reality.

One small apartment in NYC, three houses in the suburbs, two Giants Super Bowl Championships, a 9-yr. Stopover in Philly and four children later, we blissfully found the Mad River Valley and the Yellow Farmhouse Inn. Now we’re both living our dreams, and raising our family with a new shared dream of bringing the farm back to the Farmhouse. Come visit us, tell us your stories, and see how “Love Grows Here”.

Business vision, mission and values

We want to extend our authentic selves and our way of life by sharing hospitality and small kindness with all who encounter the Yellow Farmhouse Inn. Our bed and breakfast is a retreat from the sometimes hectic pace of life, and a place to slow down, to have fun, to be nurtured and to grow.

We’re trying to bring the farm back to the farmhouse through a dedication to instilling a sense of wonder and adventure in the land, increasing biodiversity through our farm animal species, soil management and planting natural pollinator habitats, responsibly farming the land, and providing environmental and conservation education opportunities.

We aim to develop plenty of hands-on activities for guests to experience the joys of small farm living such as interacting with goats, chickens and horses, harvesting fruit/vegetables/flowers, and farm-to-table cooking.

THE PROPERTY

Set on the site of a former 550-acre dairy farm and tavern, the original building dates back to 1850.  Over the years, the farmhouse has seen two additions, the loss of a barn and several outbuildings. The stables across the road, garage and loft were all added within the past 40 years.

Currently, the properties existing timber frame barn is undergoing a massive restoration and renovation to become the Innkeepers’ home and offices.
